In the Software-as-a-Service cloud computing space IBM offers online version of Lotus Notes. LotusLive iNotes is a web based email service that provides messaging and calendaring capabilities to business users. Like other web email offerings LotusLive iNotes is especially useful to remote business users, as a user just needs a Web browser and Internet connection to access iNotes. LotusLive iNotes is priced attractively with annual rates of $36 per user. Included in the package is spam and virus protection, and 1GB of storage per user. LotusLive iNotes competes with Googles gmail and Microsofts Exchange Online.
IBMs applications in the Software as a Service
In the Infrastructure-as-a-Service space IBM offers storage on in its data center in cloud computing model. IBMs Smart Business Storage Cloud provides scalable disk space over the cloud. The product competes with Amazons S3.IBM also offers Comput-as-a-Service over the cloud. IBMs Computing on Demand (CoD) provides computing resources of IBMs data centers. Customers can use computing infrastructure on an hourly/weekly/annual basis based upon the demand. According to IBM, Computing on Demand uses seven global centers, over 10,000 HPC compute cluster cores and 50 Terabyes of storage. Servers are available on both Linux and Microsoft.
